Practicing Math Facts

Did you know that learning and memorizing math facts is super important for your child’s math future. When a child masters math facts, higher level math concepts in the future will be MUCH easier.

In a perfect world, children should practice math facts for a few minutes daily until they can successfully complete 20 basic math problems in 60 seconds with 100 percent accuracy.

You may be thinking, how can I practice math fact fluency with my child? Check out the math fact practice ideas below:

Does your child need a little extra motivation? Using a math fact log can be one tool that can help to motivate your child to work on math fact fluency.

Have your child write down the date, the math facts they practiced, and the amount of time they practiced each day. Have an adult initial or stamp the math fact log every time your child practices. When your child hits certain milestones, give them a reward for their superb math fact practicing!

We decided to give rewards for every 60 minutes of fact practice, but you can modify this so it suits you and your students.
