Color Hunt for Preschoolers

Are you working on colors with your child? Try going on a color hunt with your kiddos!

My two and a half year old is working on learning his colors. Everything is still “blue” to him. He is a very energetic and active little guy, and I figured he would learn his colors best through active learning!

I decided to create a color hunt around the house! This was an easy way to learn colors while having fun.

To make your own color hunt all you need is some colored paper!

I set up colored sheets of paper on the floor, and we went around searching our home for items of each color.

For example, I would say, “Let’s find things that are the color red!” My children would then run around the house looking for red items. We mainly used toys for our colored items since we have so many toys around the house!

If you have more than one child, they can work together to find items of certain colors, or you could even make it a competition. Who can find the most red items? Who can find a red item the quickest?

Does your child enjoy going on scavenger hunts? This color activity is sure to be a hit with your little ones!
