Easter Egg Name Puzzle

Is your child working on spelling their name? Try out this festive easter egg name puzzle to work on name recognition.

You will need:

  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Glue
  • Construction Paper (one color for each letter of your child’s name)

Step 1: Print out a template off an egg offline (optional) or free hand trace an egg onto one of the pieces of construction paper.

Step 2: Make sure you have one color of construction paper for each letter of your child’s name. Place all of the pieces in an even pile. Cut all pieces at the same time cutting on the line you outlined of the egg.

Step 3: Draw zig zagged lines onto each piece of construction paper. I start with the smallest piece first. Place the first cut out piece onto a new color. Trace another zig zag line onto the new color and then cut that out. Place the next cut out piece onto a new color and trace another zig zag line onto this new color. Continue until you have all of the pieces you need to form your child’s name.

Step 4: Write one letter of your child’s name on each of the egg pieces.

Step 5: Tell your child they will use egg puzzle pieces to form a whole easter egg that spells their name. If they are having trouble, give them a hint that they will start with the biggest piece and continue to work down to the smallest piece to form their name egg.

Step 6: Your child can glue down the pieces together when they are finished.
