Dinosaur & Unicorn Birthday Party

Are you having a joint birthday party for a dinosaur lover and a unicorn lover? Stomp on over for some magical birthday party ideas! Check out some of these dinosaur and unicorn birthday party ideas.

Food Ideas

Carnivores

  • Publix Sub Platter
  • Buffalo Chicken Dip & Chips

Herbivores

  • Veggie Platter
  • Spinach Dip & Chips
  • Dinosaur & Unicorn PB&J Sandwiches

I totally forgot to take a picture of the dinosaur and unicorn PB& J sandwiches. I used a dinosaur and unicorn cookie cutter from Amazon to make them.

Rainbow Fruit

  • Red: Strawberries
  • Orange: Cantaloupe
  • Yellow: Pineapple
  • Green: Green Grapes
  • Blue: Blueberries
  • Purple: Red/Purple Grapes

I was going to add marshmallows to the bottom of these rainbow fruit platters as the clouds, but my marshmallows somehow melted and were all stuck together…whoops!

Magical Desserts

  • Pink, Purple, & Teal Cupcakes
  • Dinosaur Cake

I bought the colorful cupcakes from our local Publix, but I did make the dinosaur cake! I used to be very intimidated about making cakes, but it really isn’t as bad as I thought. With a little practice, and patience, it actually can be quite fun! Click here for the cake recipe I use. Click here for the frosting recipe I use.

I made all of the food cards using my Cricut machine.

Decor

Balloons

I found the cutest dinosaur and unicorn balloons from Amazon. The only problem with buying balloons online, is that some stores will not fill them for you. There is currently a helium shortage where we live, so we almost had to buy our own helium tank. I might buy one just in case for our next party, you may want to purchase one also.

Dinosaur Cake Toppers

I found these dinosaur cake toppers on Amazon. How cute are they? They were very sturdy, I definitely recommend them!

Dinosaur & Unicorn Paper Goods

I found all of the paper goods at target. They had an entire dinosaur and unicorn collection. Click here to check out the dinosaur collection. Click here to check out the unicorn collection.

Games

Tricera-toss

How to make your own Tricera-toss Game:

  1. Get a large piece of card board or buy a large piece of white poster board.
  2. Cover the card board with paper (optional). I had yellow butcher paper from a previous craft.
  3. Draw an outline of a triceratops on the paper/cardboard/poster board. I found one online to use as a reference… although my husband said it ended up looking like an alien with an afro…
  4. Paint and or color in the triceratops to your liking. I used paint for the large green area and then markers for the smaller sections.
  5. Cut out white circles and black circles to form the eyes. Paste these onto the board.
  6. Write Tricera-toss at the bottom of the board.
  7. Use command sticky tabs to attach cones to the board. You will need 3 cones in total.
  8. Make sure you have rings for this dinosaur themed ring toss game. You could alternatively use glow sticks formed into necklaces as rings.

I found a cone, ring, and bean bag set on Amazon that I used for this game. I know we will use these materials for tons of other games in the future.

Pin the Horn on the Unicorn

I found this Pin the Horn on the Unicorn game on Amazon. It was very easy to use. All you have to do is tape it to the wall. I loved that it came with a TON of horns and the blindfold. Another bonus was that the horns were stickers, I didn’t have to add any tape to them for the children to stick them to the unicorn. The kids had a blast doing this.

Outfits

Dinosaur Birthday Outfit

I had two options for my little guy’s birthday outfit. I made him a custom dinosaur shirt, but I also found a fun dinosaur button up on Amazon! He ended up wearing the button up for the party. If you decide to buy this dinosaur button up, I would size up as it does run a little small.

First Birthday Outfit

I made my daughter a custom birthday onesie. I found a really cute ruffled lace onesie on Amazon and added “one” onto it using gold glitter vinyl. My daughter also wore a birthday tutu. I found her tutu on Etsy from the shop Meadows Marvels.

The party was a blast and I was so able I was able to combine the themes. Do you know a little dinosaur or unicorn lover? Share this post with their parents to help them plan their next birthday party! Be sure to check out my Etsy Page too, Keepin It Coastal Creations.
